20 Bible Verses About Confidence
Confidence isn't something you manufacture — it's something you receive. When the noise gets loud and the doubts creep in, Scripture is where I go to remember who I am and Whose I am. Here's a curated collection of the verses I return to again and again as a confidence coach, a mother, and a woman still learning to carry less and care more.
A note before you read
Read slowly. Pick one verse — not all twenty. Sit with it. Write it on a sticky note, tuck it in your car, whisper it before the meeting, the interview, the hard conversation. Confidence built on Scripture doesn't crumble when the compliments stop.
Confidence in God's Presence
Confidence doesn't start with you — it starts with knowing Who walks with you. When you're rooted in His presence, fear loses its grip.
Joshua 1:9
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."
Reflection: God's command to be courageous comes with a promise — His presence. You don't have to muster confidence alone.
Deuteronomy 31:6
"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified... for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."
Reflection: Boldness grows in the soil of God's faithfulness. He never lets go — so you can move forward, even when it's uncertain.
Isaiah 41:10
"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
Reflection: When you feel weak or overlooked, this verse reminds you: God actively strengthens the ones He loves.
Psalm 27:1
"The Lord is my light and my salvation — whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life — of whom shall I be afraid?"
Reflection: Confidence is a byproduct of Who you belong to. When God is your stronghold, intimidation loses its power.
Confidence in Your Identity
You were made on purpose, for a purpose. These scriptures affirm the value woven into you before the world ever labeled you.
Psalm 139:14
"I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well."
Reflection: You are not a rough draft. Every detail of you was intentional — worth celebrating, not shrinking.
Jeremiah 1:5
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart..."
Reflection: Your assignment predates your insecurities. You were chosen before you knew how to doubt yourself.
Ephesians 2:10
"For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."
Reflection: You are His masterpiece — the good works are already waiting. Confidence is stepping into what's been prepared for you.
1 Peter 2:9
"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession..."
Reflection: Royalty doesn't apologize for the room it takes up. Walk in the identity you were given.
Genesis 1:27
"So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them."
Reflection: You reflect the image of the Creator. That alone is enough reason to stand tall.
Confidence to Face Fear
Fear is real — but it doesn't get the final word. These verses are anchors when anxiety, doubt, or intimidation try to shrink you.
2 Timothy 1:7
"For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline."
Reflection: Timidity is not your inheritance. Power, love, and a sound mind are.
Psalm 23:4
"Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me..."
Reflection: Confidence in the valley comes from Who's beside you, not from what's ahead of you.
Isaiah 43:1-2
"Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine... When you pass through the waters, I will be with you."
Reflection: You are called by name. Whatever water you're walking through, you won't drown in it.
Psalm 34:4
"I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears."
Reflection: Deliverance from fear is available — but it starts with seeking Him honestly, not performing strength you don't feel.
Confidence in Your Strength
You don't have to be enough on your own — because His strength shows up in your weakness. That's the paradox of confident faith.
Philippians 4:13
"I can do all this through him who gives me strength."
Reflection: Your capacity isn't measured by your résumé — it's measured by the One who strengthens you.
2 Corinthians 12:9
"My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."
Reflection: The places you feel least qualified are often where His power shows up loudest.
Isaiah 40:31
"But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary..."
Reflection: Confidence is sustainable when it's fueled by hope in Him — not adrenaline or approval.
Psalm 46:1
"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble."
Reflection: You don't have to be your own safe place. He is.
Confidence to Speak & Lead
Whether you're leading a team, raising a family, or stepping onto a stage, these verses remind you that your voice matters.
Proverbs 31:25
"She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come."
Reflection: Confident women aren't fearless — they're covered. Strength and dignity are the wardrobe God gives His daughters.
Hebrews 4:16
"Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need."
Reflection: You have access. Bold approach isn't arrogance — it's the posture of a daughter who knows her Father.
Exodus 4:12
"Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say."
Reflection: God spoke this to Moses, who felt unqualified to lead. He speaks it over you too — He'll give you the words.
